"Dear Friends!
During the evening, we will travel with a creator who, although he pursued one of the most realistic professions in his civilian life—he was a lawyer—and did not travel much in a physical sense, nevertheless experienced the greatest and most powerful experiences in his intellectual and spiritual journeys.
(...) "As an idea,
Like a ray of light shining from the sky,
From a distant corner of the world,
Escaping to another world,
Did I come, or was it just a dream?
And beneath me, and above me,
Below me and around me
I could see the world.
It was a big face, endless,
Millions of eyes on it;
All so beautiful, so splendid,
That I am unable to speak,
Bee buzzing, mosquito music,
To recount what I saw,
As it boiled above and below me
Everything in the worlds."
- says Csongor in the timeless philosophical tale, "Csongor and Tündé." And even though we know this tale well, having read it as children and adults (I even acted in it as an actor!), when we pick it up, we always find universal and human secrets, exciting ideas, unanswered questions, and their analytical dissections written in beautiful language!
Mihály Vörösmarty, this infinitely reserved, lonely, and mysterious man, who was an important and respected figure in both literary and public life in the earthly world, traveled to Fairyland in his dreams. We follow in his footsteps through his beautifully written works and celebrate together that this wonderful creator of our literature was born exactly 225 years ago on December 1, 2025.
Eszter Kiss"
